What makes this easy?

New easy practice puzzles are checked with a logical solver. They can be completed using single candidates and single positions within a row, column or box. A unique answer alone does not make a puzzle easy; the techniques needed to reach it matter.

Start with a nearly complete group

Scan rows, columns and boxes for missing numbers. For example, a row containing 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 needs 5. Check the crossing column and box before entering it.

Use help without rushing

Choose Explain a hint to inspect the highlighted cells, then open the explanation. You decide whether to enter the number. Notes, undo and relaxed play are available. Older saved puzzles keep their original board and display their assessed difficulty.
